Inspiration Marine Group has rebranded its brokerage division, Michael Schmidt & Partner, which has been a part of the group since 2007.

Effective as of May 2026, the division now operates under the Inspiration Marine Group name. This change aligns the brokerage services with the group’s sailing and power operations, creating a unified platform for buying, selling and managing ownership transitions across both sail and power.

James Stone, Director of Inspiration Marine Group, said: “This marks the natural next step for the group. Clients do not see brokerage and new boat sales as separate journeys. They move between buying and selling over time, and this brings everything into one structure that reflects that reality.”

The move comes as brokerage transactions become more complex. Cross-border activity, higher-value assets and post-Brexit regulatory requirements have increased the need for specialist support across VAT status, importation and certification.

Inspiration Marine Group holds HMRC Customs Warehouse Approval status, allowing ex-VAT boats to be marketed and sold from the UK without triggering import tax liabilities. Bringing brokerage fully into the group structure serves to strengthen that capability, providing clients with a more consistent and better-supported transaction process.

Brokerage now sits alongside new boat sales, aftersales and the Group’s spares & service offering within a single structure, providing one point of contact across the ownership cycle.
