Broker's Comments
Boatshed Wales are delighted to present this rare and truly unique opportunity to bring Elkstone to the market.
Elkstone is a 23-metre ex-Royal Navy Clovelly Class Tender, built in 1970 to the exacting Lloyd’s 100A1 specification. Designed and constructed for strength, durability and versatility, she would originally have been tasked with personnel transfer, cargo carrying, towing, harbour assistance and supporting warships in dock.
In recent years, Elkstone has undergone the second stage of a full professional residential refit, including substantial interior works carried out by Mainstay Marine.
While sympathetically retaining many of her original features and character, the former holds and cargo spaces have been completely transformed into warm, comfortable and light-filled living accommodation. The current layout includes a forward cabin with twin double and single berths, generous studio and lounge areas, and a full-size bathroom complete with a high-sided bath.
Outside, Elkstone offers exceptional deck space.
The aft upper deck provides an expansive area with ample room for dining, leisure seating, a hot tub or simply relaxing and enjoying the sunshine. It would make an ideal entertaining space for hosting friends and family, or enjoying a drink while watching the sun set.
The foredeck offers equally exciting potential for further development and could accommodate a wide range of uses. Currently arranged as a tranquil garden space, it is beautifully planted with a multitude of plants and flowers, creating a surprisingly peaceful environment aboard this substantial working vessel.
The wheelhouse retains its commanding position and provides excellent forward visibility, with doors to both port and starboard giving access to the side decks.
Perhaps the most unique aspect of Elkstone is the combination of substantial, beautifully converted residential accommodation with the continued ability to operate and relocate the vessel if required. This is not simply a static houseboat; she remains a capable vessel with the potential to embark on a new chapter elsewhere.
Currently berthed at Milford Marina, Elkstone has permission to retain her current berth. Pembroke, 6 miles upriver, benefits from commercial lifting facilities and local workshops equipped to undertake work on a vessel of this size and construction.
Equally, should a new owner wish to relocate her, Elkstone retains that potential.
This is a fascinating and highly individual opportunity, equally suited to those looking for a substantial liveaboard, a unique waterside home, a potential world explorer, or an innovative commercial enterprise.
Elkstone offers space, history, character and capability in equal measure — and opportunities of this nature rarely come to market.
Boatshed Wales warmly welcomes all serious enquiries and strongly recommends an early viewing to fully appreciate the scale, character and potential of this remarkable vessel.
