Broker's Comments

Introducing Radiant Star! At 75' LOA, she projects a high degree of stature, underway and at rest.

Age and health is forcing the reluctant sale. Her current owner will consider offers on list price.

Radiant Star represents an era when shipbuilding was purposeful; allowing for uncommonly high levels of durability, strength and quality.

Backstory: She was rescued from a North Sea fleet of herring drifters in the early 1990s by a Scottish-American businessman.

At the time of purchase in 1994, she was decommissioned as a Scottish fishing vessel and officially documented as an American Yacht.

After a brief stay in the Jones Buckie shipyard for partial refit and prep, for the voyage Washington State; she embarked on an 18,000nm cruise from Fraserburg, Scotland across the Atlantic, around Cape Horn and up to Anacortes, WA.

In 2006, a major refit was completed. Since then, she has been vigilantly managed by professional curators and shipwrights. The original 3" decks were repaired as needed and re-faired. Original decks were then rubberized prior to installing new 2" douglas fir and larch decking overlay.

Work below the waterline included refastening the bottom with 3,000 huge 5" square spikes.

Her bulkwarks were replaced with mahogany and capped with purple heart, much of which had to be steam bent to the required curve. All of the exterior work was done by Guemes Island boatbuilder David Hartford and his crew. PNW local, David Bass masterfully completed her interior joinery and finish carpentry.

Interestingly, many of the current furnishings are re-furbished antiques; picked up in London shops while steaming up the Thames during her trip south.

To the prospective buyer - In her current state, Radiant Star continues to offer great potential and pride of ownership. She has the heritage and craftsmanship to back it up.

Although she is believed fully functional and structurally sound a comprehensive buyer inspection in and out of the water is well-advised.
A prospective buyer should anticipate that a vessel of this scale will require vision and a maintenance budget to keep her well-found and reliable.
