Broker's Comments
Beneteau 50 (Bruce Farr design): well-maintained, offshore-capable cruiser.
The Beneteau 50 is a Bruce Farr design from 1997. She combines a seakindly hull, generous accommodation and a practical cruising rig, which is why she remains such a popular choice for family cruising and longer passages. This example has been used year-round by her current owner and has recently had a lot of money spent on her.

Performance and handling
Powered by a 85hp Perkins 4.236 with a shaft drive and feathering prop with rope cutter. She cruises at around 7 knots, burning approximately 4 litres an hour, with a top speed of around 9 knots. With 500 litres of fuel in two tanks, her motoring range is considerable. Under sail, the fin keel and 18-tonne displacement give her a stable, comfortable motion, and she has the ZSpars aluminium rig, 2 halyard winches and 4 sheet winches. Her sail wardrobe also includes a storm jib, an asymmetric spinnaker and a second genoa.
Ground tackle and deck
A 33kg Rocna anchor with 100m of chain, operated by an electric Lofrans windlass with remote control, makes anchoring easy for a short-handed crew. She also has a swim platform, davits and a cockpit enclosure.
Accommodation
Layout is four cabins with nine berths (four doubles and a single), three heads and four handbasins, with a 3-burner gas cooker in the galley. Water capacity is 1,000 litres across four tanks. Power comes from eight batteries, charged by the engine, solar panels and shore power.
Use and background
The owner has sailed her along the South Coast as far as Falmouth, and across to Northern France and the Channel Islands. She is coded under the new Sport and Pleasure code to Category 2, and has also been used for occasional skippered mile-builder charters. The owner is selling only because he is downsizing for a circumnavigation.
Summary
A well-found, well-equipped 50-footer with a recent survey and a lot of new kit, in a Bruce Farr design that has proven itself on long passages. She is lying on the River Itchen and viewing is highly recommended.
